Company History
The way the company started in 1989, was out of my toolbox. I had no building, no equipment, and no employees. My major assets were a BS. degree from Purdue University in MET and an Assoc. from Vincennes University in tool & die and 10 years of practical experience. I had an agreement with the owner of Accurate Machine, Carl Graveson, to repair and replace tooling that they needed and clean the shop in the evening. Out of the goodness of his heart he didn't charge me any rent.
As time went on I was able to buy tooling and eventually a milling machine and grinder and a vertical band saw. I placed this equipment in our own shop, around 1990, which consisted of a 10 X 20 area at the time. This was in the same building as Adkev Inc, plastic manufacturer. Again an angel appeared and the owner of Adkev Inc, Gary Rheude, didn't charge rent in exchange for the convenience of having a tool shop available to him. At this time I hired my first employee.
As time passed the shop grew in numbers of equipment and people. In 1993 we had four full time employees.
In 1994 Adkev moved to a new building and I was asked to make the move with them, which we did. With the new building we were able to expand greatly Three years ago, in fall of 2017, we made another move into our own separate shop, which expanded our square feet a little more.
Since 1995 we added a full time tool designer, who we trained right out of college. We added a CNC Milling machine and the associated CAD/CAM Software, and also a Charmilles Robofil 310 - 4 axis Wire EDM machine. Currently we have six full time employees. We have one expert and one trainee in the CNC department. We also have two wire experts trained by Charmilles.
We have grown from 200 square feet in the beginning to 5000 square feet of current shop space. To date we have 24 different active clients. We also found an area of expertise in High Speed CNC Milling, Laser Welding, and Custom EDM Work to supplement the Mold Building and Design. The company has grown and changed dramatically since the beginning of me working out of my toolbox, as well as the expertise of the employees. We are capable of meeting the needs of your ideas from design to finished product.
